Starting on January 1st, 2008, I am going to do one new thing per day for the entire year.  It can be something small, such as wearing my underwear backwards, or something large like flying a plane.  At this point, creating 365 things seems a little challenging, so I am taking suggestions via your comments.  Submit away!  I won’t reveal the winners- you’ll have to read the blog to find out.  By the way, I am not this inventive- I got the idea from, In the New, so I have her to thank.

  1. Since you’ll be starting on the first, I recommend making a bloody mary as your first new thing.

If you’ve already made a bloody mary, then maybe your first new thing should be to make a bloody mary for ME. I’ll need one.

  2. Trying something BIG, like learning a new language or playing a guitar, is probably out of the question. Go with easy stuff. Try a new food, a new church or maybe try joining a club.

  3. Try to unpack as soon as you get home from a trip, just kidding!! How about reconnecting with someone you have not seen or talked to in awhile. Call them or email to see if they want to meet up for drinks or dinner. Great idea on the blog. I look forward to reading more! LL

  4. I’m trying to think of something funny. But today’s not the day for that, I guess. Today’s the day for ingesting some culture after work. Try the MCA. (It’s free on Tuesdays.)

  5. Tis’ the season…How about rounding up all that loose change in your couch and pockets and go outside and pay as many parking meters as you can…Maybe start a jar of change, pick a busy street and then spread some cheer by preventing people from getting tickets! No one buy you will know, but you’ll smile everytime you visit that street again.

  6. Take a Segway tour of Chicago. Seeing those things always freaks me out. And if you’re in Cleveland around this time next year, visit the “A Christmas Story” house. Whatever you do, don’t wear your underwear backwards and fly a plane simultaneously. I heard Amelia Earhart tried that once.

  7. Since we are all creatures of habit it would be both difficult and interesting to switch up the routine for one day. If you usually brush your teeth first in the morning try brushing right before you leave. You could take a new route both to and from work, etc…you get the point.

  8. meet some friends (me) for breakfast and stay at the same table through dinner and drinks. love that on a sunday.

have you been surfing? go visit lindsay (once again. with me). and take lessons from my friend forrest (not wallace. although f.w. and i are maybe rekindling things on myspace). you can wake up early, ride some gnarly waves and then hang at taco locco.

  9. Take a dance class.
Make a pineapple upside down cake.
Make a 12 course meal for friends.
    Do 100 of “something” all day – 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 stairs, etc, etc.
Make a list of all the places you’ve been.
Make a list of all the places you want to go – do something to start crossing them off!
Make a list of 365 people you know – spend one day thinking about them, getting in touch with them, talking about them, etc.

  10. Try to condition yourself to become ambadextrious. Brush your teeth, hold your phone, hold your utensils, grip your drinking cup all w/ your non dominate hand. Obviously, this is a long process but if you concentrate on a different task each day you’ll eventually become really good.

  11. Try eyelash primer before applying mascara. You won’t believe how great it works. I love the one by Lancome but L’Oreal makes one too.

  12. Go to a karoake night alone. Perform stirring rendition of a song of your choice (suggested tune: Karma Chameleon), upon conclusion drop mic & walk out.
